Voting Rights Restoration UPDATE: The Voting Rights Restoration Amendment 4 was approved to go on the November ballot in Florida. Also, on February 1, 2018 a U.S. District Court Judge declared unconstitutional the process by which convicted felons can individually plea to the governor to restore their voting rights. Quoted in TCPalm, Judge Mark Walker said, “To vote again, disenfranchised citizens must kowtow before a panel of high-level government officials over which Florida's governor has absolute veto authority. No standards guide the panel. Its members alone must be satisfied that these citizens deserve restoration."
Florida is the 10th most expensive state in the country to run for Congress.
District 18, which includes northern Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, is a rarity among U.S. congressional districts in that it does not skew heavily in favor of one party, heightening the hopes — and the stakes — for both. But Cook’s Political Report still rates it Lean Republican.
